On Monday, February 26th, math educators from around the state came together to discuss improving college and career readiness of students in South Carolina. The event was attended by college math department chairs, professors, high school and middle school teachers. Melanie Barton, Executive Director of the S.C. Education Oversight Committee, presented information regarding the future of mathematics education in S.C. Other presenters included Dr. Thomas Fitzkee, Professor of Mathematics at Francis Marion University and Alisa Hobgood, Math Teacher at West Florence High School.
